Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari has responded to controversial statements from his wife by reminding her that her place is in the kitchen and the " other room".
Speaking at a press conference in Germany, the president sparked outrage from Nigerians when he said
" i don't know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room".
His statement raised many eye brows as citizens took to social media and criticized the president on his thoughts over the role of women. Many are left wondering what the President meant by " the other room", others took the liberty of posting pictures of a variety of bedrooms.

First Lady Aisha Buhari

The first lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, raised concerns as she warned her husband that she may not back him up at the next election unless he gathers his wits. When being interviewed by BBC staff, Naziru Mikailu, Mrs Aisha Buhari questioned her husband's knowledge of his top officials, she said
"The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and i don't know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years"
Her latest decision to go public with her concerns has left the citizens of Nigeria in tense mode as this shows the level of discontent in the president's leadership.
The president was quick to remind the first lady that he has more political experience and could claim superior knowledge over her since he had run for president four times. He said
" so i can claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition, because in the end i have succeeded. It's not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government".
President Buhari is well known for his fight against corruption and Nepotism but has endured difficult rule especially since the time Nigeria officially entered recession in August for the first time in a decade.
