The wildlife is populated with so many creatures' some quite unknown to man. Most of these creatures posses some dangerous defence mechanism that endangers the welfare of man. I'm going to focus on the venomous snakes. Why these creatures tend to command attention is because of the deadly venom they posses. Though improvements in medicine has helped reduce the mortality rates of snake bites, An Estimate of more than 100,000 human die every year as a result of snake bites. Their agility, responsiveness, deadly venom and unexpected attacks makes them a considerable fear factor. Here is a list based on the potency of their venom.

10. SAW SCALED VIPER
The saw scaled viper is a small, extremely dangerous and aggressive specie. Its one of the fastest striking snakes in the world with a high mortality rate of 25,000 human fatalities annually. Moreover, because it ranges from Africa north of Equator, India, parts of the middle East and Pakistan, its believed to cause more human fatalities every year than any other snake species. Over 5 mg of its dose is lethal for a adult human. The symptoms are swelling, intense pain, blisters form on the skin, Hemorrhage, Hematemesis and others. Its venom can kill over 23,841 mice and 5 adults in a single bite.

9. INDIA COBRA
The India cobra is one of the most venomous cobra species in the world. Its venom can kill 33,689 mice and 8 adults with just one single bite. Its venom in human body affects respiratory functions and can cause Neurotoxicity and Respiratory paralysis. They are able to accurately spit out their venom at a target up to 3 metres. Over 100,000-150,000 bites are made in a year.

8. PUFF ADDER
This specie is responsible for more fatalities than any other African snakes. Mostly due to its wide distribution, common occurrences, large size, coupled with the fact that its venom is produced in large amounts, long fangs and ability to lie in wait for preys, this species has quite earned its place as our eight most deadly snake in the world. The victim could die in less than 2days. It has a mortality rate of 52%.

7. KING COBRA
This specie happens to be the longest venomous snake in the world. It can inject a maximum of 1000mg of venom into its prey . Its venom can kill over 45830 mice and 10 adults with a single bite( 1000mg).

6. COMMON DEATH ADDER
Maybe not so common in its striking skills, the death Adder is a highly venomous snake specie with 50-60% mortality rate. Its considered to be the fastest striking snake in the world. A death Adder can swiftly go from a strike position to strike and Envenoming its prey and go back to its strike position in less than 0.15 seconds( now, how fast is a bullet again??). This snake, unlike any other snake does not flee from approaching humans, they tend to sit tight and risk being stepped on.

5. RUSSELL'S VIPER
Russell's viper produces one of the most excruciating painful bites of all venomous snakes. Its a short-tempered and a very aggressive snake by nature which strikes at lightening speed when cornered. Internal bleeding, bruising, blistering and necrosis are all common symptoms experienced by the victims of this species. A lethal dose of 40-70mg is capable of killing 18 adults human and 88,211 mice. In India, an estimate of 25,000 fatalities has been recorded annually by this fearsome specie. I certainly would not want to make that my pet.

4. COASTAL TAIPAN
The coastal Taipan is a large venomous Australian Elapid. Its highly aggressive when cornered and will actively defend itself. This has high striking speed rate, its able to bite a person several times before he even realize that there is a snake around the corner. To demonstrate how how deadly this specie is, a single bite( with a venom yield of 400mg) can kill 208,019 mice and 59 adults human. The fangs, which are 12millimetres long are the longest of any Australian Elapid snake. The venom affects both the nervous system, clots the human blood, causes Nausea, collapse, internal bleeding. Death can occur as early as 30 minutes after being bitten.

3. EASTERN BROWN SNAKE
It's the second most venomous snake in the world. it is notable for its bad temper, aggression, speed, and it is responsible for more deaths every year in Australia than any other group of snakes. Its venom is capable of killing over 212,889 mice and over 50 adults human with 155mg venom from a single bite.

2. BLACK MAMBA
Its a large and highly venomous snake and by far the most feared and most dangerous snake specie in Africa. Its a highly territorial snake. It often puts on an aggressive or violent display when cornered and can mimic a cobra in its stance. It shows an incredible amount of tenancity, fearlessness and aggression during breeding season. They have 100% rate of Envenomation. It possesses the longest fangs(22 millimeters) of any Elapids. Common symptoms are dizziness, headache, erratic heartbeat, difficulty in breathing. It can bite its victim up to 12 times in a rapid succession, delivery a dose of 100m-500mg of venom to its victims.

1. INLAND TAIPAN
Regarded by many as the most venomous and deadly snake in the world,the Inland Taipan has earned its place as the number one most deadly snake in the world. A venom of 110mg can over a million mice and over 300Adult human with a single bite. It is mostly found in Australia. The Inland Taipan is not an aggressive specie and rarely strikes, Its very shy and most times slitter away from disturbance.
